The most recent correspondence I have been getting in e-mails is “Mobile, are you dead”. The fact that I am posting this post clears up that misconception. Although I have been MIA I am still alive and kicking. I still maintain the site and have receive all of your e-mails. So special thanks to everyone who has been writing and submitting their usernames and crew names. Let me remind all of you of some basic facts as the majority of the e-mails that are not related to user or crew name submissions consist of::

  • Can you unban me?
  • Can you change my CB Radio Chat username?
  • Can you ban user “X”?
  • How can I be a CB Chat moderator or How can I be a moderator.
  • I am going to press charges against you.
  • Can you give me a discount on Pro version if I sign up for 1 year

Feel free to review the bottom of the home page or the Disclaimer page to become cogniscent that myself (Mobile 3.14) and the site mobile314.com has no affiliation or connection with PLUGMIND, the app developer.

I am working hard to respond to all these submission e-mails and have added a slew of CBRC Crews and User names. If i missed you feel free to write a followup e-mail with me! Thanks again everyone. Leave some comments below and tell me whats up.

cb radio chat queue

Posted by & filed under Community.

I have always said that this Android Voice Chat App called CB Radio Chat operates on a different time clock or better stated, Time moves at a different rate. Call it a time warp if you want, call it Time Travel if your delusional.  From time to time you get these discussions that 5 minutes of time in CB Radio Chat is equivalent to 60 minutes time in “The Real World”. All it takes is a you swapping out a dead battery for a new one, to return to the same channel with the same people, only to discover that the previous conversation you were having is nowhere to be found. All it takes is getting busy with life and taking a 1 week break from CB Chat to REALLY notice this change. Expect to return to a whole new set of drama, inside jokes and situations. Don’t get me wrong upon returning from a CB Chat hiatus there is still that sense of “The Same ol Same ol” going on.  But any drama and insider jokes have usually changed.

CB Radio Chat Message Queue of 1 minutes and 48 seconds of messages until blue button

The CB Radio Chat Time Warp Phenomenon Explained :: In Plain English

The fact is, CB Chat is a fast pace style of voice chat but what makes it so fast paced? I believe it has to do with the message queue. When I say message queue, what I mean is that your voice message is not played in real time but is put “in line” behind other messages that were spoken before yours. The message queue is described in the “How CB Radio Chat Works” page. Of course this phenomenal is very evident if the channel is busy or not. On a busy channel such as channel 1 or Channel 26 you can expect to see this time warp in action. For example,  you respond to a message that you heard one of your CB buddies put out there. Lets say that by the time you get a blue button to respond a minute has passed. Well lets not forget that this voice chat message you are responding to may already be 1 minute old. By the time your CB Buddy gets this message it will also be 1 minute old. In other words your responding to a joke that has already died and a new joke is already being told. Other factors to influence this is related who is blocking people, people blocking them and of course if you are blocked or whom you are blocking. Does this person have majority of the room blocked or has the majority of the room blocked them? The same goes with you. Your CB Buddy may have a large number of users blocked out or “Red X’ed” while you may not have anybody blocked so your going to be behind as you have to sift through the queue of messages.

Are we over-thinking this concept here? Yes, most likely we are but is the time warp and fast pace of life in CBRC evident? Yes it is. Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. We would love to hear them!

cb radio chat new version update

cb radio chat new version update

A lot of time has passed since the last blog post titled “What’s New In Version 1.9.9” was published. Really working to catch up from where we left off I am still working on a number of unpublished articles of some situations that have gone down in the community but until then I wanted to get out an article, reviewing on some changes from this Version Update.

:: Version 2.0.1 Quick List of Changes ::

  • Permanent Usernames
  • Changeable User Description Area
  • Location Range Talk Fixed
  • PLUGMIND reports “+Bug Fixes” on Google Play Page
  • GPS Location ???

As a long time subscriber & viewer of CB Radio Chat User’s Largest Youtuber, known as Neo . What I mean by largest is the most consistent and also the best CBRC related videos. I am long past due reviewing Neo’s Youtube Channel. Before publishing such review, I must share one of many videos generated by NeoUK1965  The first segment of this video not only reviews Version 2.0.1 nicely but also touches on some unique concepts found only in the CB Radio Chat “Sphere”. Here have a look for yourself…

Permanent User Names

The most significant changed was the requirement to register a username. Upon updating the application to Version 2.0.1, users were met with a username registration screen (See photo below) This username would be forever paired with your device and cannot be changed unless you write to the Application Developer, PLUGMIND. This change caused an uproar of complaints and people contacting myself asking “How can we change our Username” and why did PLUGMIND do this? It’s still up for discussion in why PLUGMIND made such a bold move. PLUGMIND could of did this for a number of reasons such as; making it more difficult to Troll. In previous version you could change your username at any time. The only way to know if someone had changed their username was if you had them on block or Red X , they would change their name and they would still remain on block. I small rebellion occurred from the application update. As users scoured the internet in search of an older version. Upon downgrading to an older version a user would revert to the old interface in that you can change your username at any time. Users that were running older versions of the app were marked on the Userlist with a ” | “before their name and their username was automatically pushed to the bottom of the username list in the Box.

 Username Description Area

In my opinion, this feature in the best and most intuitive. Perhaps the developer has a soul after all as he took away “our” freedom to change our usernames but he gave us a editable description box. What is it? It enables users to write a short description that can be changed at any time. User edited description can only be found when viewing the userlist or “The Box” opposed to see this description when listening to a voice chat message. One interesting move that I have not heard discussed is that in this user description box, the use of ALT codes or “characters” can be used. A major pain point for crews when PLUGMIND blocked this functionality. In other words, TAGS are back. It makes sense in my mind to have your username reserved and use the desciption box for your crew tag. If you crew hop on a regular basis, you have nothing to fear as you can change your Ohh and PLUGMIND kept the link functionality too, meaning that you can have a URL as a description and a link is automatically created. CBRC user and good friend of mine, Jack Spades reported in a article comment that ” The old versions are not able to see the description any of the upgraded users have written.” I have heard rumors, as well as Jack Spades, that non-complient users abstaining from updating will soon be banned.

The Box / Channel Username List with User Edited Descriptions

 Location Range Talk Fixed

Back in December 2012, the community of CB Radio Chat started up the app only to find that suddenly the Channel got a whole lot bigger. The room must of seemed massive to those users who only choose to talk on their own continent by making use to the “Location Radius Function”. There was a whole article titled ” No Location / No Range Control Glitch” as users tried to make sense if the change was a glitch or purposeful  The App Developer continued his usual trend of making unannounced changes and responding to user e-mails with canned responses so we thought it was a glitch, as the range control button was still present. Life went on in the CB Radio Chat Sphere but with this most recent update, the users that have complied with “PLUGMIND LAW” and choosen to update can talk only on their content or talk worldwide. It also appears that version 2.0.1 users display their “coarse location” Displaying only country of orgin this time, opposed to state .

Missing In Action

Some of your are probably wondering what happened and why I appeared to be MIA and fallen off the face of the earth. Well combining my work schedule with my family schedule leaves little time for pretty much anything. I have been MIA from mobile314.com but believe it or not I do frequent the app to stay plugged in but usually do not talk. One of the main reasons why you wont hear me is that the queue is stacked 20 deep. This tells me that CB Radio Chat is alive and well. Its loyal user base still thrives!

Missing In Action

Keep checking back to the site for some planned articles including ; Life After CB Radio Chat Update, Zello versus CB Radio Chat, the latest scoop on CB Radio Chat channel activity & Life inside Zello: A Zello App review. It is also planned to publish some reviews on some awesome Android Applications I have come across. Thank you all for the emails you have sent me. Many of those emails I have not had the chance to respond! Slowly but surely you will get a response from me. Also on a side note, whats up with all the people that still have not grasped the concept that I am not PlUGMIND, I have no affiliation with PLUGMIND nor do I have any control in what PLUGMIND does with the App.
—Cheers!
